I inherited an Electrolux BW 545 machine. I had never dealt with dishwashers before.

Everything inside was covered with plaque, so for the first time I used a cleaning product, it didn’t help much.

I read on the internet that you also need salt. There are no instructions. I found something in Swedish, fiddled with the translation, but it didn’t say anything about salt. There is a compartment for powder, and next to it there is a compartment for rinse aid (I understood it from the Swedish instructions). I don’t understand where for salt at all. I can attach photos.

Cool machine, I’ve never seen anything like it.
You don’t need to add salt if the water is soft enough. I personally live in Moscow, and I never add salt; the dishes are washed perfectly.

As for the scale, it needs to be removed, I thought that’s what salt does ?

Salt makes water softer. But in St. Petersburg it’s already super soft!
What does scale interfere with? It will gradually wash off. After all, this does not affect the quality of dishwashing. It’s just not very aesthetically pleasing, right?
