PMM Bosch SMV69T70RU/70 error E04, does not heat water

Post by timm »

PMM error E04 occurs periodically. You start the program - it circulates water, but does not heat it, the washing lasts the usual time and, after the end of the program, displays an error on the E04 indicator. After a week of the error occurring and the machine being idle, the machine works as usual, the error does not occur immediately. But after two weeks it occurs again.
The heating element of the flow-through heater is ~20 Ohm, the water flow switch motor is working, the switch disk is turning.
I checked with a megometer the breakdown on the body of the heating element of the zeolite absorber ~30 kOhm, not enough. I took it apart - at the end of the channel, near the heating element, there are stalactites made of zeolite. I cleaned it and shook out the crumbs and zeolite dust. I inserted the heating element into place - the insulation resistance was restored - several hundred Mohms. But if you shake the jar in it, you can clearly hear the pouring of zeolite. and periodically crumbs fall out of the channel for the heating element. While I am assembling and twisting and turning over during assembly, enough will accumulate for a new circuit.
My diagnosis - the lattice holding the zeolite absorber has collapsed and mineral particles began to fall on the heating element (Hello optimization from Bosch!) and at times, at high humidity, short to the body.
On the jar with zeolite it is written - 07/11/2013 00100151 9000861527 zds2. The first is the date of manufacture, the second is not clear, the third is the part number, the fourth is not clear.
New cans of zeolite drying are not sold in regular spare parts, the parts cannot be googled by code. The can is shown in the spare parts catalog, but there is no code for it. Good people, in the spare parts store they said that cans with zeolite can only be replaced by Bosch service. You can’t buy them in the store.
Solution options:
1. Call a Bosch serviceman, pay some money for the work of the master and the part (how much will such a part cost and delivery time? How long will it last?)
2. Stuff stainless steel washcloths into the cavity of a zeolite jar so that they don’t spill onto the heating element, assemble and use, wait for the error to appear again. (How long will she last?)
3. Should I buy the jar I need somewhere at a disassembly site and put it there (yeah, you’ll find it at a disassembly site, I’m dreaming)?
4. Throw out the machine (sell it for spare parts for pennies) and buy a new one without zeolite drying?

What do you recommend?

I saw this question of yours on another forum, I will repeat the answer here.
I had about the same problem with the neff S51T65X5RU/50 dishwasher (compatible with BOSH, Siemens components). There were also problems with the heating element for zeolite drying: breakdown on the housing error E04, the cycle runs, but does not heat the water, etc.
It started with flooding the dishwasher and the drying unit (a metal tank with zeolite) with water after the circulation pump failed (graphite bearings died). I replaced the circulation pump, removed the tank with zeolite and dried it, the PMM worked fine for a month, but then another error E10 appeared. I removed the tank with the zeolite again and discovered that the thermal fuse of the heating element had burned out and the glass made of transparent material, which contained the heating element built into the zeolite drying body, had cracked (almost crumbled) (there would be a leak on the body). At the same time, the body with the zeolite itself turned out to be full of holes due to rust. In general, it cannot be treated (the dishwasher is only 5 years old, although it was used intensively). More precisely, it can only be treated by replacing the entire assembly unit along with the heating element. Having found out the price of the unit (from 20 thousand rubles), comparable to the cost of a new dishwasher (albeit simpler), I decided to buy a new dishwasher. In general, I concluded for myself that it is not worth buying dishwashers with zeolite drying, since the idea is clearly not fully developed. The location of this block under the washing tank is simply illiterate, since any overflow leads to the drying unit flooding and terribly expensive repairs (it’s cheaper to throw away the dishwasher). The drying block should be located somewhere on the side, significantly higher than the level of the bottom of the washing tank, and made of stainless material (now it is ordinary galvanized sheet). In general, I threw away the NEFF dishwasher (there were a lot of spare parts left). I will not buy dishwashers with zeolite drying anymore and do not advise anyone, at least until they change the design.
You can try to replace the drying heating element separately, it can be found at a price of about 8 thousand rubles, but I would choose from Point 4 for you (throw out the dishwasher and buy a new one).
