I recommend that anyone who encounters this problem clean the drain hose and the place where it connects to the sink drain. In a dishwasher, the drain hose is usually connected to the right side; you need to remove the side panel. In some cases, it may be necessary to clean or replace the drain pump check valve. But to do this you will need to remove the tray or bottom cover (depending on the design). I had this problem after 6 years of use. After some time, the dishwasher stopped draining water altogether. During the cleaning process, half a kilogram of crap came out of the drain hose. The smell of the dishes compared to the smell of "this" seemed like a fragrance.

It’s the same for me - the laundry on the street stank, but the rag that was left in the apartment did not. It was late in the evening, it started to rain and it was cool - 15-20 degrees. In general, we should try to study the issue from a scientific point of view. So far, everyone was just making observations, and no one seemed to be trying to experiment.

The temperature of the water or dishes is also important. It seems to me that the process occurs at a fairly low temperature, below room temperature.
To check, try connecting the dishwasher to hot water, if you don’t have boiling water, of course. Or after washing, pour hot water over the dishes. Will the smell then disappear?
I will take water from the water pump at the dacha and wash it with this water, having first cooled it to the temperature of cold tap water.

I am answering my own comment.
The reason is too soft water!!! We poured salt into the bottom of the car, + salt tablets, + our water is medium hard. As a result, the water turns out to be so soft that it is not able to wash off all the components from the dishes, and after drying this smell and slight stickiness remain, although the dishes look clean.
Salt is poured into the bottom of the machine. If I use tablets, I set the hardness level to zero, i.e. for soft water. If I use powder, I set the water hardness to the first level, i.e. for medium water. There are four levels of hardness: 0,1,2,3. I use the rinse aid in both cases.
After these settings, the dog smell disappeared!!! and the dishes squeak in your hands after washing.

2) Rinse the car using a special dissolving bottle
3) Stop using rinse aid (rinse aid is a biodegradable soap, which creates a thin film on the dishes, which precisely prevents the formation of plaque, but with a possible unpleasant consequence - increased odor) By the way, almost complete absence of plaque can be achieved through the competent use of salt, which softens the water enough not to leave a residue.
4) Set to modes without drying (but also, therefore, open the lid immediately after the end of the cycle so that the moisture accumulated there does not become damp and settle on the dishes.)
If it is not possible to set modes without drying (by the way, the "30 minutes/express" mode never "dries" the dishes), then just at least open the door immediately after the cycle and take out the dishes so that they do not have time to "roll in the dog".
5) And do not forget about the main rules of the dishwasher - The dishwasher does not remove all the dirt, but only helps to get rid of it - Before using the dishwasher, soak the dishes well and wash off all pieces of food that could in one way or another interfere with the normal operation of the machine.
6) Be skeptical about tablets, because they are more expensive, and in fact, they won’t make you any better (you don’t need these "5 IN ONE!!!!", because you can wash dishes efficiently in the dishwasher when you know how to use it.)

I don’t know what exactly you call the smell of dog, but I encountered the smell of ozone (ions) on dishes, and on different machines and in completely different cities. This smell is similar to the smell in the forest after a thunderstorm. It is quite unpleasant and harsh.
The reason for this is the operating principle of a water softener - an ion exchanger. However, I don’t know what exactly is the cause: a malfunction of the ion exchanger, the water hardness settings, or a resin that has lost its qualities.
One of the reasons could definitely be too soft water. Try lowering the water hardness setting. However, what was written here earlier about changing the settings depending on the use of pills or powder is not true! Changing the settings will affect the water hardness only after 3-4 washes. With this parameter you just set how often water and salt will enter the ion exchanger and saturate the resin with ions. Those. if you set the maximum setting, washed the dishes once, reduced the setting to minimum, the resin will still be very active and the water very soft.
Now about the "3 in 1" tablets. They do not contain any salt! There are just phosphates, like in washing machine powder. Tablets do not replace salt. If you use tablets, you still need to add salt and switch the hardness setting to the minimum value (but not zero). The resin still needs to be maintained in working condition.
So my advice is how to get rid of the smell of ions (what you call "dog"):
1. Find out the water hardness in your city.
2. Using the PMM manufacturer’s table, select the water hardness setting.
3. Draw conclusions only after 3-4 cycles.
Excessive softness can also lead to clouding of the glass (corrosion).
Increased hardness can lead to calcium deposits on the dishes.
4. Be sure to use rinse aid. Without it, there is a chance that the product will not be completely washed off from the dishes, especially if the water is hard.
If you use "3 in 1" tablets, you still need to add salt, and set the water hardness setting to 1 In this case, rinse aid is not needed. And now the most important thing is to NOT break the tablets! By doing this, you disrupt the order in which the layers are revealed. Either you use them entirely, or you don’t use them at all. You can’t rush from powder to tablets either. Use just one thing.
