Please help, maybe someone has encountered such a problem! The dishes, after being washed in the dishwasher, stink of dog!! Disgusting smell, but the dishes are clean and shiny. I changed the tablets, rinse aid, salt is always available. I wash the inside of the dishwasher regularly, the filter, the walls. I tried running it with baking soda and vinegar. Nothing helps (((

Never used tablets, Somat or Finish powder, rinse aid and salt from the same companies. There was no smell for 3 years, but last year it appeared. Moreover, hand-washed dishes also stink.

Do not place dishes that have been in contact with chicken eggs and/or homemade mayonnaise in the dishwasher. This made all our dishes stink! The dishwasher somehow “dilutes” this smell onto all the dishes that are inside. I started washing the dishes after breakfast of an omelet or something like that with vinegar and that’s it! But as soon as you put the dishes in the closet and open the window, it starts to stink. They changed the tablets, the amount of rinse aid, and the salt regimen - nothing. It helps a little to rinse the dishes with water immediately after washing, but the smell may still appear.

Yes, an open window makes everything worse, but sometimes you take it out of the PMM still wet after rinsing and there is no smell, you wipe it off, put it in the closet - but there is a slight smell. You have to wipe it very dry, then it’s practically gone. The conclusion is that there is some kind of reaction between air and water... but what and why exactly is this terrible smell. Maybe there are people with special education, chemists, who can explain... and yes, our Luminar dishes stink a lot, we have several porcelain plates, they don’t stink that much... there is no smell on the pots and pans. And I agree that this is nonsense when they write, don’t eat, then don’t wash... this is for washing ALL the dishes, and she can’t dictate to you what foods to eat)

Empty doesn’t smell. The smell only occurs after washing dishes. After finishing the wash, it makes no difference to open it immediately or later. There is no smell at first, but as soon as the dishes cool down a little, it starts to smell

We have washed it many times with PMM washing blocks, the smell goes away. As soon as you start washing the dishes again, this stench appears. We removed the rinse aid to 0, then set it to 4 (as recommended by the manufacturer Siemens), then set it to the maximum, 6. The result is still the same, there is a stench from the dishes even in the PMM. All this happens in Moscow, the water doesn’t stink. You wash dishes by hand, no problem. I tried changing the salt settings. According to the test, it was necessary to put 4-5 units out of 7. As a result, I later found out that these tablets can work without salt, that is, up to a value of 4. Before the changes, it turned out that the water was super soft and did not wash away fat or chemicals. As a result, I set the salt to 1 out of 7, and the rinse aid to 1 out of 6. There is still a dog smell. I set the salt to 0 and the rinse aid to 0, the effect was the same. The dishes are clean and squeaky. But the stench remains in the PMM and on the dishes. The filters are clean, I’ve already looked at them a hundred times, taken them out, and washed them.

Same problem, the dishes stink. It didn’t start right away, for 2-3 years everything was normal, on any dishes with any products, and it didn’t matter when to open the door, immediately after the cycle or much later. I always did everything according to the instructions, always used salt, rinse aid, and powder (somat or finish). I thought the problem was in the ceramic plates (microcracks in the enamel, allowing bacteria to settle). We replaced almost all the dishes with glass. It seemed to be better, then it stinks again. They cleaned everything with special means (a bottle sealed with wax, we tried both Somat and Finish), they even tried it with a “mole” - if it helps, it doesn’t last long. All the rubber bands were cleaned, the top one was completely removed and washed. We started buying tablets, both cheap and "finish" - useless.
I think the possible causes of the smell are as follows (and, obviously, the smell is due to bacteria or other microorganisms):
1. the water has spoiled. It is from a water intake, which is from the river. It sometimes blooms in summer. Chlorine may clog, but does not completely remove bacteria. There are main filters in the apartment itself (but simple, 1 stage)
2. the drain valve is worn out, smell comes from the sewer. But the filter in the machine itself (which is at the bottom in the middle) does not smell! So it’s unlikely.
3. The most likely thing is that new PMMs come with some kind of bactericidal lubricant (by the way, the rubber bands were smeared with black at one time), which washes out over time and the amba, that’s what stinks. For those who have a new one that stinks, maybe they saved money on it when assembling it. Most don’t stink, or at least the new one doesn’t stink.
You should try playing with the hardness setting, but I doubt it will help...

Yesterday we launched an empty PMM at 3.30 with a tablet and without dishes. The smell disappeared. There wasn’t even a hint of it. It smelled a little chemical. Today I did the same procedure and HERE it is again. Salt at 0 and rinse aid at 0. Tablets Finish Quantum Ultimate. What is it and why is it? The dishes were not washed between PMM washes. I had the same problem in Kyiv in 2 rented apartments in different areas.
Almost always there are dishes with traces of eggs. After washing I always open the car a little to air it out. Indeed, the smell is stronger in summer. There is a white coating. Some dishes, some don’t stink. The cups stink the worst. Even if you wipe the dishes with a napkin, a smell appears after a while. If you rinse and dry it, it stinks. Only complete hand washing with fairies helps. It happens that after a while the smell goes away on its own. Sometimes it happens that the water in the cup also starts to smell like dog. In summer the smell of mud is added, but it’s definitely water.

Then I discovered that if you wash aluminum dishes in Kyiv with tap water, a black coating and a metal smell appear. I came to the conclusion that this is because there may be a lot of iron in the water, which reacts with aluminum and forms an oxide.

So the idea about water hardness, the presence of aluminum (or alloys with aluminum) dishes (this could also be forks) can cause such a reaction + leftover food + air.
Just after washing, we tear off the machine door, and the aluminum in the dish that reacted with water begins to react with air.

I don’t have PMM, but I smell it from the glass from which I drink water, I rinse it under water without anything, and I also smell it from the fork, spoon, sometimes it’s unpleasant to eat, almost to the point of nausea, but my family doesn’t smell it, the window is open all year round, otherwise it’s hot at home, the smell of dog is very rare, our water seems to be below average hardness, hmmm it’ll come soon, it’s even kind of scary, I don’t want dog ;)
