What clogged the filter - according to the photo :) and description

Post by sanyo »

Good afternoon,

We have a BEKO 6610 dishwasher

It has been serving faithfully since 2007

We operate in very harsh conditions:
1) Instead of the correct salt, we fill with regular table salt
2) We use inexpensive Rail detergent

In this mode, it washes worse, sometimes a small white coating on the dishes.
Expensive branded products were used only for the first few years, i.e. The machine worked most of its life using cheap products.

But recently the quality of washing has sharply decreased, food remains on the dishes and the translucent sticky snot on the glass carafe is completely upset.

After that, I immediately examined the filter of the machine and found that it was covered with some kind of sticky substance.

I thought it was fat from food and the like, heated some boiling water, poured a good portion of Feary into it, add a little cold so as not to spoil the plastic, but the hand still does not tolerate such a temperature, i.e. quite hot.

Kept it in the fat-breaker solution for an hour. But it was not there. Nothing fell off, and what’s more, the impression was that it only fused even more strongly into the fine mesh.
I repeated it 2 more times, i.e. only 3 times. Zero reaction, i.e. obviously not fat. Over 10 years of operation, the filter was easily washed under hot tap water.

I began to think what it could be. The tactile sensation is very sticky, like resin, it doesn’t wash off with water, it doesn’t peel off even in boiling water, it just starts to stick even better.
You manage to pick it out in pieces, you can use cotton swabs, then all your hands are covered in this muck.

There was nothing left to do except try solvents. Turpentine came into my hand. And it immediately began to fade, it washes off relatively easily. The plastic was not damaged by the turpentine.

I thought it might be chewing gum, because other than that I don’t know any other product with such a sticky consistency. I didn’t think about it right away, because no one here chews it, but 2 weeks ago we had guests, perhaps they helped put the dishes in the dishwasher along with the chewing gum :)

I washed all the squiggles and filter holes for 2-3 hours, then rinsed the mesh + toothbrush.
I frayed all my nerves, this has never happened before.

Next are photos of the filter and this nasty thing. Do you think this could be chewing gum?

Do you happen to brew coffee in anything? I once encountered a similar sticky mass when I forgot to add water to the geyser coffee maker) The coffee melted and turned into a very sticky and difficult-to-remove substance similar to glue.

I don’t drink coffee myself, maybe my relatives, but before this hasn’t happened in 10 years, in the last year such a blockage has formed

here in more detail (without spaces):

Exactly the same situation.
The filter is clogged with some kind of gray rubbery paste. I remove it with toilet paper; if it gets on my hands, it’s difficult to wash off with soap; I also clean my hands with paper first.
Chewing gum is 200% excluded, but we drink a lot of brewed coffee, but I doubt that’s the reason.
Most likely, due to the sanctions, the composition of the products has changed and some kind of nasty stuff is coming out.
I tried washing dishes with this white coating not only with powder (Finish, I don’t use rinse aid) but also with citric acid, with soda, with Feri - everything is in vain - and the dishes are white and the filter is all in this mass.
I will try special products for cleaning the dishwasher itself - I read one review, which helped in a similar situation.

Maybe some of the detergents react with some waste, for example coffee residue, and this happens. You can also try cleaning the dishwasher using these instructions viewtopic.php?f=21&t=172
