 Save aluminum!

Post by Thebes Prolje »

Hello everyone.
Well, I screwed up. Either it’s a girl’s memory, or senile sclerosis, or vice versa :( In short, I forgot that aluminum cannot be washed in the PMM. And I automatically shoved the aluminum components from the meat grinder into it. And at the exit I received them, covered with an even, dense dark gray coating, which remained well on my hands, but was difficult to wash off from the details *x) I wiped off the tray with difficulty and was tired. And I thought that I should try to make my life easier. And then I boiled this aluminum in water with soda and washing powder (don’t laugh! In some cases it’s very effective)...
At the end I got an even smoother, even darker and denser gray coating : cry: including the previously wiped tray.
(Reference: I always had a weak C in chemistry, because the chemistry teacher never raised her hand to give a solid D.)
Question. What was it and is it possible to clean the parts of the meat grinder? External aesthetics are a secondary matter. What’s more unpleasant is that, according to all laws, this plaque will get inside people through contact with minced meat.
What did the metal react with? With powder? With rinse aid?

I had the same story with aluminum spoons. They turned black and smudged. But after 10-20 washes they stopped doing this. We use them.
This is what they look like now.

Whoa. It’s also unappetizing :(. I’ll scrape it off. It’s a pity, I don’t know how to dissolve it. I especially can’t imagine how to get inside the pipes :-o You can still get into the tray everywhere and into the nut. But in the pipes it’s more difficult.

PS. For a thousand rubles you can buy a new housing with a nut :( For another 900 - a tray. No, I’ll scrape off the tray. I’ll think about the rest. Golden meat grinder *x) because of my own nonsense.

Treat aluminum cookware with it and never put it in the dishwasher again?
How to ensure that aluminum does not turn black in the dishwasher? I don’t want to wash anything with my hands anymore.

No way. Aluminum cannot be washed in the dishwasher. The meat grinder was treated with HORS and scrubbed by hand. In general, if possible, it is better to completely abandon aluminum cookware, leaving only what is necessary. It reacts with many foods (oxidizes), which is harmful to the health of the consumer

I see that the problem is quite common. Yesterday I bought a BOSCH meat grinder, the parts were greased and my wife put everything in the dishwasher. When I took out the parts, I was almost speechless. The parts were covered with an asphalt-colored coating. I washed them with a vinegar solution, liquid laundry soap and other detergents. They stopped getting dirty, but the original shine has not returned. In the morning I took GOI paste for final polishing and polished the parts to a mirror shine. Now they look better than new, almost a mirror. Now I only wash it with my hands, with laundry soap and wipe it dry all at once.

Greetings.

I have Neva metal frying pans, in which the bottom and handle mount are made of aluminum alloy - i.e. Exactly the same story with the raid. Here is what the manufacturer writes in the questions and answers:

Can products from the NEVA METAL TABLEWARE factory be washed in the dishwasher?

Yes. But we strongly recommend using detergents with a pH level close to neutral (in the range of 6-8), or specially recommended for washing aluminum products (for example, Chrystal Charmy gel from Lion). Otherwise, a dirty gray coating may form in uncoated areas (the machined bottom, where the handle is attached).

Girls, I found a super solution. I also put a meat grinder into the PM, the result is disastrous. I tried for a long time to clean it with something, but there was no ideal result. After looking at the prices for meat grinders and the prices for spare parts (tefal 3,800), I began to urgently look for a way to wash this rubbish in the form of plaque. In a regular hardware store I bought the product "Sanitol Steel Shine PROFESSIONAL", price 60 rubles. And, lo and behold. Top coated with Biolan, now like new.

Hey everyone!! :hello:
From my own experience I understand that the topic is still relevant!! *x)
Like everyone else here, I made the same mistake thanks to my laziness (Well, I didn’t want to spoil my manicure ).. .in general, it turned out like everyone else, gray parts with a terrible coating and terribly staining your hands!! I rubbed it with everything, soaked it in everything... in the end I freaked out, just took a feri, a mesh iron brush (such a curly one) and let’s scrub... Oh miracle... the nasty gray coating is gone!! :Yahoo!: :Yahoo!: :Yahoo!: Of course, everything is not perfect, I’ll say right away that “like new” is not about them... but quite decently (photo attached))), but only after... "before" I didn’t think to do :wistl: accept the result!!))) Maybe it will help someone! !

There is a cheap product called Sanita “Metal Shine” that washes such incidents with a bang... I checked it in my meat grinder, which was also washed in the dishwasher

The blackness from the geyser aluminum coffee maker (after washing in the dishwasher) was washed with ’’Master Shine’’ for the kitchen (manufacturer Russia, Republic of Adygea).

Hello everyone) I’m just like everyone else :) *x)... I was worried for three days that I had ruined my assistant... My husband tried to restore it with GOI paste (about its existence I didn’t know before). I read on the forum that Sanita restores the shine of metal. I didn’t see it in the store :( I read an article about aluminum corrosion... I poured 3 tablespoons of citric acid and 2 tablespoons of table salt into a liter of water. I soaked the meat grinder parts for an hour (the reaction started immediately). Then I scrubbed it off with a brush... The black coating came off quickly, without effort. Then, with salt and detergent (I always add apple cider vinegar to it - the dishes are washed and rinsed quickly) I cleaned it again with a brush. The result pleased me. The only thing is that it doesn’t have that shine :( Then, I processed the lard with the bread. Here is my experience. There are no parts for my meat grinder, I don’t know how it will work further. It’s a pity that I ruined it... *x) *x) *x) And more, now the question is whether using without covering :read: is harmful

Aluminum can be washed! Just not with all products, with Finish it came out with a black coating, and then I washed it with Somat powder a couple of times - all the aluminum came out without residue, it was light and did not get dirty) :good: In the photo there is aluminum, which I wash there all the time))

I wash aluminum pans in a washing machine with Econt tablets (from Pyaterochka) or Fresh Clean from (Auchan), after the finish it gets very dark, and the main thing is to turn off the rinse aid when you wash aluminum and then the appliances will be white

What worries us is that the protective layer of aluminum is broken after PM. This is probably harmful, it can be washed off, but maybe we are convincing ourselves.

Elenka, Elenka, this is the best way (ferry + iron mesh brush). Better than this GOI paste. Following your advice, I washed the kitchen hammer and garlic press that had been damaged by Sanitol. Now they shine almost like new. Thank you for the simple and effective advice.

The coating on the bottom of the frying pan held firm after using finish gel and clean and fresh tablets and synergetic gel in PMM. It always has to do with the finish with a rinse aid. But Fairy’s capsules changed everything, now the bottom of the pan closer to the outer edge has lost its shine and is smeared black after the first bath with these capsules. Redmond frying pan.

It’s written on the tablets that you don’t need to wash aluminum in the PMM, if you smoked an ABC book at school, or for some reason you have a lack of :Bravo: gray matter in your head, then be sure to wash it, and then create more topics on forums like how to save aluminum! Should I just stop washing it in PMM?

The manufacturer of the frying pan allows washing in PMM, if you read my comment to the end and carefully, you will notice that before changing the product there were no problems with the product. Moreover, if I wash a frying pan in a PMM, I always use the eco mode, which is also delicate.

mmm..I’ll add that on fairy capsules the only limitation is painted dishes.

Yulia, ECO mode, this is for saving water and electricity, it is mainly suitable for washing lightly soiled dishes, but mainly not for a frying pan, but the chemical reaction of aluminum to the detergent can occur at any water temperature, mmm... if on fairy capsules the only limitation is painted dishes, so why do these capsules spoil Julia’s frying pan?

And who is stopping you from washing aluminum in the PPM, but WITHOUT tablets/powder - just with water. Set the maximum temperature (~70) and voila - the luminaire is clean and does not get dirty.

I couldn’t find Goya paste in the store, so I decided to try my cream for cleaning metal surfaces. I usually use it to clean everything chrome in the bathroom so that it shines, but here... Mother laziness + the dishwasher *x) and the spare parts from the new meat grinder turned black :sorry:. The result is not bad, the blackness has washed off, not perfect of course, I mean that if you polish it, it will be like new, but look at the photo. It turned out very well.
I think that Faberlik is quite widespread in every city, so buying this product will not be a problem :)

Not "Goya paste", but "GOI pasta".
GOI is the State Optical Institute, where this paste for polishing optical instruments was invented.

Good afternoon I washed the attachments from the planetary mixer in the dishwasher. I thought everything was screwed! *x) But I remembered about Greenway pasta. Not perfect, but still much better. And a cloth for the vest from the same company also helped, it has one side that is shaped, but soft.

Hello Everyone!
I also ruined a camping aluminum set of pans...
And I saved it with a wonderful product -
It’s called Sanita-multisila (cleaning gel for kitchen stoves
nSold in Pyaterochka, Simishagov, etc.
Price 98 rubles
Just fill the dishes or meat grinder with this gel for 20 minutes without dilution. And you don’t even need to rub everything, just rinse thoroughly!!!!!
Dishes are like new!!!!

All these problems with aluminum arise due to a chemical reaction with alkalis (with any products containing alkali. As a rule, these are grease removers, etc. These products, as a rule, have a warning on the packaging that they should not be used with aluminum).
As a result of the reaction of aluminum with alkali, sodium tetrahydroxoaluminate is obtained (has a dark or black color). You can remove it with a 20% nitric acid solution (in industry, this operation is called brightening aluminum after etching. You can also type this in the search for details.) As a result, you will get a light aluminum part, but a matte color. For shine, such a product will have to be polished (you cannot get a shiny product right away; you have already made it matte as a result of interaction with alkali). It is also worth noting that nitric acid can destroy parts made of ferrous metal, other metals, plastic and rubber products.
The second method of removal is mechanical, take and clean with abrasive materials (do not use soda), polish.
